What's the difference between the Oura Ring generations?
The Gen3 ring contains extra LEDs and sensors, which allows for new software features. Check out the Oura Generation 3 article for more information.
Oura will continue to support the Gen2 rings with routine software and firmware updates.
What is the sizing kit process?
We recommend using the Oura Ring sizing kit to determine your Oura Ring size. A properly fitting ring will result in the highest possible data accuracy, comfort, and overall experience with Oura.
See Tips for Determining Your Oura Ring Size more information.
How do I change my email address or reset my password?
Forgot password?
You can reset your password by clicking here, or by selecting "Forgot Password" on the Membership Hub login page.
More information on how to change your Oura account email address, password, or other details, can be found in this article.
The intended use and setup of an Oura Ring should consist of the following: one ring, one account, one device. If there are multiple users or data sources feeding into the same account, this leads to missing data, connectivity issues, or even accelerated battery consumption.
How do I purchase an additional charger?
You can purchase additional chargers directly from the Oura online store.
How long does the Oura Ring battery last?
A fully charged ring may last up to seven days. Battery life and longevity can vary depending on the age of your ring and how often you use certain features such as Workout Heart Rate, the Explore content, or Blood Oxygen Sensing. All rechargeable batteries are consumables and have a limited lifespan, so their capacity and performance will gradually decline over time.
Which devices and operating systems (OS) is the Oura App compatible with?
The Oura App is supported on iOS devices running Apple iOS 15 and higher, or Android devices running Android 9 and higher with Google Play services. Your device must support Bluetooth 4.0.
You can also access most of your Oura data using Oura on the Web.
Device Proximity Guidelines
Your Oura Ring must be within Bluetooth range in order to sync its recorded data with the Oura App. The ring will collect data even when in Airplane Mode or not connected to the app.
Can Oura sync with other apps?
Yes! Oura has an ever-growing list of partnerships and integrations, which you can find in our App Integrations section.
Can I wear my Oura Ring only at night?
Yes. However, you may miss out on data that impacts other features or scores, such as your Activity Score or Daytime Stress. We recommend Oura members wear their rings 24/7 for optimal accuracy and personalization.
Can I wear my Oura Ring while working out?
Yes, you can wear your Oura Ring throughout all your workouts and movement routines. Oura can even automatically detect and track over 40 unique activity types.
However, we don't recommend wearing your Oura Ring while lifting heavy weights, as it may get scratched.
Is the Oura Ring waterproof?
The Oura Ring is water-resistant up to 100 meters (~330 feet), meaning that you can wear it while showering, swimming, or partaking in recreational diving (e.g. snorkeling), but we don’t recommend using your ring while scuba diving or keeping it submerged underwater for over 12 hours.
Oura Ring operating temperature ranges from -10–52°C / 14–125°F. You can safely wear your ring in the shower, hot tubs, saunas, ice baths, and cryotherapy tanks. However, extended exposure to extreme temperatures (below -20°C / -4°F or above 60°C / 140°F) may lead to battery damage.
Does Oura account for time zone changes?
Yes, your Oura Ring will synchronize to your device's local time once your ring and Oura App connect over Bluetooth in the new time zone.
You’ll need to ensure that:
- Bluetooth is enabled on your device
- Proper connection between your ring and app is established
- Your device’s OS is fully up to date

What is Restricted Mode?
Restricted Mode protects your information in case an unwanted party gets a hold of your Oura Ring and attempts to pair it with their device, or if you attempt to pair your ring to a new device without performing a factory reset on it first.
If the Oura App notifies you that it’s in Restricted Mode, you'll need to reset your ring to its factory settings in order to continue using it.
Does Oura have a smart alarm?
The Oura Ring does not have a smart alarm feature, nor does it use sounds, lights, vibrations, or other alert functions. However, Oura can send you notifications for a number of situations. Manage your notifications settings by navigating to the menu in the upper left-hand corner of the home screen > tap "Settings" > "Notifications."
How accurate is Oura?

- Activity: Read our article on How Oura Measures Steps & Activity.
Can Oura detect COVID-19?
The Oura Ring is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent medical conditions or illnesses. Please do not make any changes to your medication, daily routines, nutrition, sleep schedule, or workouts without first consulting your doctor or another medical professional.
For information regarding COVID-19 onset research, check out this article about a recent UCSF study.
How should I store the ring when I'm not wearing it?
If you plan on taking a break from wearing your Oura Ring for more than two weeks, we recommend putting it into power saving mode to prevent any potential battery deterioration.
If you're not wearing your ring during the day, be sure to store it on a flat surface and away from any direct light sources to avoid generating false data.
