Oura Membership FAQs

Below, we share the most frequently asked questions related to the Oura Membership. Please note that Oura Membership only applies to the Oura Ring Generation 3. You do not need an Oura Membership to continue using a Gen2 ring. If this is the first you've heard of Oura Membership, you can think of it as a small monthly subscription of $5.99/€5.99, allowing full access to our suite of evolving features and connected benefits, all of which are outlined here in detail.

Icon_Error__2_.png Keep in mind: you can only have one ring linked to your Oura account. This means you can only purchase one Oura Ring Gen3 under your Oura account email. If you already have an Oura Ring Gen2, this would be your existing Oura account email. If you’re brand new to the Oura community, this would be the email you used to place your order.

If you’d like to purchase a second Oura Ring Gen3 under your same account credentials, you’ll have to select the ‘This is a gift’ option during checkout.

What is Oura Membership?

With the latest Oura Ring Generation 3 we’ve released, it comes coupled with an exclusive Membership that grants you full access to the Oura app for daily health insights, personalized recommendations, guided audio sessions, science-backed educational content, an ever-growing suite of innovative features, and more. If you’re brand new to Oura, your Membership is a flat fee of *$5.99/€5.99 charged once monthly on the same day you first enrolled. We're offering all first-time Oura Ring buyers 6 months of free membership, so your monthly fee won't start until after your 6-month trial ends. *In the US, the fee will be $5.99 before tax. In the EU, the fee will be €5.99 after tax, and in the rest of the world, $6.99 after tax. You can think of Oura Membership as a subscription, which grants you full access to all features and benefits shared above, as well as explained here in more detail. 

You can manage your monthly Membership with us from your My Account portal, located in the footer of ouraring.com. You can also select the Hamburger Icon_Bars.png menu in the upper left-hand corner of your Home Icon_Home.png tab > Select ‘Settings’ > Scroll to Account. By selecting ‘Manage membership,’ you’ll be redirected to your My Account portal. Here, you can adjust your payment type, identify how much is left in your trial period, view past invoices, and more. You’re free to cancel your Membership at any time through your My Account portal and can renew it just as easily using these same steps.

Icon_Error__2_.png Please note that by canceling your Oura Membership, you’ll only be able to see your three daily Oura Scores, ring battery, basic profile information, and app settings. All your contributors, tailored insights, features, and in-app content, among other dimensions of your Oura app and experience will be locked.

What does ‘Lifetime Membership’ mean?

A Lifetime Oura Membership is an exclusive offer we’ve made available to any current Oura Ring owner, to thank them for their loyalty and being an early adopter. This will grant you full access to an ever-growing suite of features, daily health insights, personalized recommendations, an expanding library of guided audio sessions, educational videos, and more—all directly in the Oura app. If you currently have a Lifetime Oura Membership, this means that as long as you keep the same, active Oura account, your Oura Membership remains free. 

If you’re eligible for a Lifetime Oura Membership, you would’ve received an email and a notification in your Oura app with an invitation to take advantage of this limited-time offer. All current Oura Ring Generation 2 owners are eligible for a Lifetime Oura Membership if they upgrade to the Oura Ring Generation 3 by November 29th, 2021, using the personalized discount link shared with them both in-app and via email. If you believe you’re eligible for the Lifetime Membership but haven't received an email or notification, please reach out to our team and we’ll be happy to assist.

If you aren’t currently enrolled in a Lifetime Oura Membership, we don’t have any options for you to purchase one. With that being said, we’re offering a free 6-month membership to anyone who purchases an Oura Ring Generation 3!

Can I continue to use my Generation 2 Oura Ring without an Oura Membership?

Yes. If you're currently a Gen2 Oura Ring member and decide to stick with your Gen2 ring without upgrading to the new Gen3 ring, we'll continue to support your product with routine software and firmware updates for the foreseeable future. You will not be charged a monthly membership fee. Please note that Oura Membership only applies to the Gen3 ring. 

You'll still have access to all the same features currently available on your Gen2 ring with the exception of one change to our Moment feature. You'll still have access to unguided Moment sessions, but due to technical limitations, guided audio Moment sessions will be removed from the Gen2 experience. All existing guided audio sessions will be available in the new Explore tab for Gen3 users. Due to the technological differences between Gen2 and Gen3, as we continue to release new features, many of them may not be available on Gen2 due to limitations in its hardware components. 

Can I use my Oura Ring Generation 3 without a Membership?

Yes, but you'll only be able to see your three daily Oura Scores (Readiness, Sleep, and Activity), ring battery, basic profile information, and app settings. In order to access the full suite of features, tailored insights, in-app content, and other dimensions of the Oura app, you must be enrolled in an Oura Membership. The good news is we're giving all new Oura Ring members 6 months of free membership starting when you first pair your Gen3 ring and app. 

Why does Oura come with a monthly fee now?

With the launch of the Oura Ring Generation 3, designed with our most cutting-edge technology to date, we wanted to channel the full potential behind our product by providing continuous value to our community members. We have consistently heard from our community that they want more tools to help them understand their health data and what actions to take to improve it. So we’re bringing you more accurate data, more innovative features, a new library of science-backed education content, and guided wellness sessions built with world-renowned experts—all made possible with significant investments into research on the most pressing health problems.

With our investments and commitment to continuously deliver the most innovative and relevant features and content to you, we're introducing a monthly Oura Membership of *$5.99/€5.99 to retain full access to all your favorite Oura features, insights, and educational content. *In the US, the fee will be $5.99 before tax. In the EU, the fee will be €5.99 after tax, and in the ROW, $6.99 after tax.

By being an Oura Member, we can routinely offer you more out of your overall Oura experience (think regular new content releases, an ever-growing suite of innovative features, and more personalized recommendations—just to name a few).

Icon_Tip__1_.png If you’re an existing Oura Ring community member and took advantage of your lifetime offer as part of your upgrade to Gen3, the monthly cost for membership does not apply in your circumstance.

How can I pause or cancel my Oura Membership?

We currently do not offer the option to pause your Membership; however, you’re free to cancel at any time by going to your My Account portal, located in the footer of ouraring.com. To sign in, please enter your Oura account email, and proceed as necessary. If you cancel your Membership temporarily, you can always re-enroll through your My Account portal. All your Oura app data and account information will remain securely saved, so when you re-enroll, nothing will be lost. If upon canceling your Oura Membership, you’d like your Oura app and account data to be entirely deleted, please reach out to our team and we’ll be happy to assist.

Icon_Tip__1_.png If you decide to cancel, Oura Membership benefits and services will remain active until the end of your payment cycle for the month.  

Will I lose my Oura data if I cancel my Membership?

No. If you decide to cancel your Membership using the steps outlined above, all your Oura app data and account information will remain securely saved under our privacy parameters. Once you re-enroll in your Oura Membership, all your Oura app data and account information will immediately be accessible again.

When I purchased my Generation 3 Oura Ring online, I received a free trial with it. When does this start and end?

Your Oura Membership free trial begins after you receive your ring and pair it with the Oura app. Once you start your free trial, it cannot be paused or restarted. The length of your trial is the same as what was reflected during your checkout process and shared in your order confirmation email.

If you need to double-check the length of your trial or see how much is remaining on it, you can always log in to your My Account portal, located in the footer of ouraring.com. You can also select the Hamburger Icon_Bars.png menu in the upper left-hand corner of your Home Icon_Home.png tab > Select ‘Settings’ > Scroll to Account. By selecting ‘Manage membership,’ you’ll be redirected to your My Account portal. To sign in, please enter your Oura account email, and proceed as necessary. Beneath ‘Manage membership,’ you’ll see the status of your Membership and how much time is left in your free trial, if applicable to your purchase.

Your free trial offer is our way of saying thank you for joining Oura’s ever-growing community and jumpstarting your health journey with us. It’s a great opportunity to explore all the new features and personalized content that come coupled with your Gen3 ring—we hope you enjoy it!

Can I pay for multiple months of my Oura Membership upfront?

We currently don’t have any options to pay for multiple months of your Oura Membership upfront or ahead of time. We are currently working on improvements to this process, and look to offer potential packaged payment options in the future. In the meantime though, your recurring monthly fee will remain at a constant price of *$5.99/€5.99. *In the US, the fee will be $5.99 before tax. In the EU, the fee will be €5.99 after tax, and in the ROW, $6.99 after tax.

I want to give Oura as a gift. Do I have to pay for my recipient’s Membership?

No. When you select ‘This is a gift’ during the checkout process and enter your recipient’s email address, your payment credentials are not used for enrollment in an Oura Membership. Following the free trial period that comes with your recipient’s ring, they’ll be directed to sign in to their My Account portal, which was activated when they first paired their ring and app. Here, they’ll be asked to enter their payment credentials and will begin paying our monthly $5.99/€5.99 Membership fee to retain the same Oura app, and overall experience they’ve had during their trial.

Icon_Tip__1_.png We notify all gift recipients of this approaching and re-occurring cost during their free trial. Please feel free to inform your recipient ahead of time as well, if you’d like.

Can I pay for a friend or family member’s Oura Membership fee?

At the time, it is currently not possible to transfer your Oura Membership fees over to another person, or pay for someone else’s Oura Membership. We are working to implement these improvements in the future.

What payment options are accepted for my Oura Membership?

You can pay for your Oura Membership using a credit card or PayPal. We accept Visa, Mastercard, JCB, and American Express. Financing options are not available for your recurring Membership fee.
