Oura Membership FAQs

Oura Membership provides full access to the Oura app for daily health insights, personalized recommendations, an ever-growing suite of innovative features, and more.

A monthly membership enables Oura to bring you more accurate data, more innovative features, and regular content releases.

Oura Membership applies only to the Generation 3 Oura Ring. You do not need an Oura Membership to continue using a Gen2 ring.

All purchases of a Gen3 ring come with a six-month free trial of the Oura Membership. After the free trial period, monthly pricing is:

  • US: $5.99 before tax
  • EU: €5.99 after tax
  • Rest of the world: $6.99 after tax

Gen3 members whose trial membership expires before July 31, 2022 will automatically receive an additional three months of free membership. Your membership expiration date can be found in My Account.

You can manage your Oura Membership from the My Account portal, which can be accessed in the footer of ouraring.com, or through the Oura app:

  • Select the Icon_Bars.png menu in the upper left-hand corner of the Home Icon_Home.png tab
  • Select Icon_Settings.png "Settings"
  • Scroll to "Account"
  • Select "Manage membership"

Within the My Account portal, you can adjust your payment type, identify how much time is left in your trial period, view past invoices, and more. See the Create & Manage My Account article for more information.

Can I use the Generation 2 Oura Ring without an Oura Membership?

Yes, we'll continue to support the Gen2 ring with routine software and firmware updates for the foreseeable future. Gen2 users will not be charged a monthly membership fee. Oura Membership only applies to the Gen3 ring.

All current Gen2 ring features will still be available, but many new features will not be released on Gen2 due to differences in its hardware components. Please see the Meet Gen3 article for a list of which features are available on each ring.

Can I use the Generation 3 Oura Ring without an Oura Membership?

Without a membership, the Gen3 Oura Ring can be used only with limited functionality. You’ll be able to see your three daily Oura Scores, ring battery, basic profile information, and app settings. Data will not import or export from third-party integrations. You will still have access to the Explore tab and all of its content.

Within Oura on the web, you will be able to view your three daily Oura Scores, and can export all of your Oura data.

How can I pause or cancel my Oura Membership?

You can cancel or renew your Membership at any time by contacting our team. There is no option to "pause" an Oura Membership.

If you decide to cancel, Oura Membership benefits and services will remain accessible until the end of the free trial or the current month's payment cycle.

Will I lose my Oura data if I cancel my Membership?

No. If you cancel your Membership, and do not delete your account, all of your Oura data and account information will remain securely saved under our privacy policy. Once you re-enroll in your Oura Membership, your data and account information will immediately be accessible again.

Even without a membership, you will still be able to view your three daily Oura Scores within Oura on the web, and can export all of your Oura data in CSV or JSON formats from there.

When does my free trial start and end?

The free trial period begins as soon as your ring is paired with the Oura App, and continues for six months from that date. Once started, the free trial cannot be paused or restarted.

Gen3 members whose trial membership expires before July 31, 2022 will automatically receive an additional three months of free membership.

To see how much time remains in your trial period, log in to the My Account portal. Beneath "Manage membership," you’ll see the status of your Membership and how much time is left in the free trial.

Can I pay for multiple months of my Oura Membership up front?

That option is not currently available.

Do I have to pay for a gift recipient’s Membership?

No. During the gifting process, your payment credentials are not used for enrollment in Oura Membership. Following their six-month free trial, the gift recipient will be directed to sign in to the My Account portal using the email address with which they received their shipping confirmation email.

They will be asked to enter their payment credentials through My Account. We will also notify them of the upcoming and recurring cost during the free trial period.

Can I pay for a friend or family member’s Oura Membership fee?

That option is not currently available.

What payment options are accepted for Oura Membership?

You can pay using PayPal or a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, or American Express). Financing options, such as Affirm, are not available for Membership fees.

When is my billing cycle?

Trial memberships start on the date you first pair your ring with the Oura app. You will receive a notice of the upcoming billing as the six-month trial period nears its end date, and you'll be billed for your first payment once the free trial is over. Your account will be auto-billed every month after that point. You can check details of your payments through My Account.

What is "Lifetime Membership"?

Lifetime Membership is a one-time promotional offer for Gen2 owners who upgraded to a Gen3 ring. If you have a Lifetime Membership, your Oura Membership remains free as long as you keep the same, active Oura account.
