Oura Membership FAQs

Oura Membership provides full access to the Oura App for daily health insights, personalized recommendations, an ever-growing suite of innovative features, and more.

To manage your Oura Membership, go to My Account and enter your account email address. Once you click on Submit, you’ll get a verification email. Click on the login link to take you to My Account, and then click on the Membership tab to see your information.

What is included in Oura Membership?

Without a membership, the Oura Ring Gen3 can be used only with limited functionality. You’ll be to see your three daily Oura scores, ring battery, basic profile information, app settings, Apple Health and Google Fit integrations, and the Explore Tab. Without membership, you cannot access the Oura API, but you can still download all of your personal data through Oura on the Web.

Oura Membership applies only to the Gen3 ring.

Where can I see the details for or manage my Oura Membership?

You can manage your Oura Membership from the Membership tab of My Account, or through the Oura App:

  • Select the Icon_Bars.png menu in the upper left-hand corner of the Home Icon_Home.png tab
  • Select Icon_Settings.png "Settings"
  • Scroll to "Account"
  • Select "Manage membership"

Within the My Account portal, you can edit and update your payment method, identify how much time is left in your included free months of membership, view past invoices, cancel or renew your membership, and more. If you decide to cancel, Oura Membership benefits and services will remain accessible until the end of your complimentary months or the current month's payment cycle. How much does Oura Membership cost?

New customers who purchase a Gen3 ring receive six included months* of Oura Membership. After this complimentary period, monthly pricing is:

  • US: $5.99 before tax
  • EU: €5.99 after tax
  • Rest of the world: $6.99 (USD) after tax

In the EU and rest of the world, there are required taxes and digital duties already included in the membership fee. US customers are charged taxes, which should vary by state, on top of their membership fee.

Your membership expiration date can be found in the Membership tab My Account.

Oura Membership is tied to your Oura Account, not your physical Oura Ring. If you purchase an additional ring with an existing Oura account, you will not receive another six free months of Oura Membership.

*Starting November 1, 2022, new Gen3 users will receive one month of included membership. 


How do I renew my Oura Membership?

If you want to renew a canceled Oura Membership, you can do so after the end of your included complimentary months or current billing cycle through the Membership tab of My Account. Click on “Renew Subscription” and it will prompt you to enter your payment information. There is no option to "pause" an Oura Membership.

When do my included complimentary months start and end?

The included months of membership begin as soon as your ring is paired with the Oura App, and continue for six months* from that date. Once started, the included months cannot be paused or restarted.

*Starting November 1, 2022, new Gen3 users will receive one month of included membership.


Can I get the complimentary months of membership if I get the Oura Gen3 Horizon?

Only new Gen3 members are eligible to receive complimentary months of included membership. New Gen3 members are defined as those who activate a Gen3 ring for the first time. Offer does not apply to those who already have a Gen3 ring and account. Please note that your Oura Membership is tied to your account accessible via the Oura App, not your physical ring. You can only have one email address connected per account.


When is my billing cycle?

Memberships start on the date you first pair your ring with the Oura App. You will receive a notice of the upcoming billing as the included complimentary months near the end date, and you'll be billed for your first payment once those months have ended. Your account will be auto-billed every month after that point. You can check details of your payments through My Account.

Can I use my Oura Ring without an Oura Membership?

Gen2 users will not be charged a monthly membership fee, and we'll continue to support the Gen2 ring with routine software and firmware updates for the foreseeable future. All current Gen2 ring features will still be available, but many new features will not be released on Gen2 due to differences in its hardware components. Please see the Meet Gen3 article for a list of which features are available on each ring.

For Gen3 users, you can use your ring without Oura Membership, but you will only have limited functionality and access to features.


Will I lose my Oura data if I cancel my Membership?

No. If you cancel your membership, and do not delete your account, all of your Oura data and account information will remain securely saved under our privacy policy. Once you re-enroll in Oura Membership, your data and account information will immediately be accessible again.

Even without a membership, you will still be able to view your three daily scores within Oura on the Web, and can export all of your Oura data in CSV or JSON formats from there.


What payment options are accepted for Oura Membership?

You can pay using PayPal or a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, or American Express). Financing options, such as Affirm, are not available for Oura Membership fees.


Can I pay for multiple months of my Oura Membership up front?

That option is not currently available.


Do I have to pay for a gift recipient’s Oura Membership?

No. During the gifting process, your payment credentials are not used for enrollment in Oura Membership. Following their included complimentary six months,* the gift recipient will be directed to sign in to the My Account portal using the email address with which they received their shipping confirmation email.

They will be asked to enter their payment credentials through My Account. We will also notify them of the upcoming and recurring cost during the included months.

*Starting November 1, 2022, new Gen3 users will receive one month of included membership.


Can I pay for a friend or family member’s Oura Membership fee?

That option is not currently available.


What is Lifetime Membership?

If you have a Lifetime Membership, your Oura Membership remains free as long as you keep the same, active Oura account. Gen2 owners who upgraded to a Gen3 ring within the promotional period were upgraded to a Lifetime Membership. There currently is no option to purchase or upgrade to a Lifetime Membership.


If I have a Lifetime Membership and upgrade to Horizon, will I keep my Lifetime Membership?

Yes, Oura Membership is tied to your Oura account, not your Oura Ring. If you currently have an active monthly Oura Membership or a Lifetime Membership, that same membership will continue once you sync the same Oura account to a new Gen3 ring.
