What’s the difference between the Oura Ring Generation 2 and Generation 3?

The Gen3 ring contains extra LEDs and sensors, which allows for new software features. Check out the Meet Gen3 article for a full comparison between the two generations.

Oura will continue to support the Gen2 rings with routine software and firmware updates.

What is the sizing kit process?

Oura will send you a free sizing kit when you place your order. We recommend using it to determine your Oura ring size, since a properly fitting ring will result in the highest possible data accuracy, comfort, and overall experience with Oura.

See our Tips for Determining Your Oura Ring Size article for more information about the sizing kit.

How do I change my email address or reset my password?

For steps on how to change your Oura account email address, password, or other details, see the Create & Manage My Account article

How do I purchase an additional charger?

You can purchase additional chargers directly from our website.

How long does the Oura Ring battery last?

The Oura Ring battery lasts an average of 4-7 days on a full charge. To get the most out of your battery’s lifespan and enhance its longevity, check out our tips and best practices.

Which devices and operating systems (OS) is the Oura App compatible with?

The Oura App is supported on iOS devices running Apple iOS 13 and higher, or Android devices running Android 8.0 and higher with Google Play services. Your device must support Bluetooth 4.0.

You can also access most of your Oura data using Oura on the web.

Device Proximity Guidelines

Your Oura ring must be within Bluetooth range in order to sync its recorded data with the Oura App. The ring will collect data even when in Airplane Mode or not connected to the app.

Can Oura sync with other apps?

Yes! Read our articles on how to link Oura to Apple Health or Google Fit.

Can I wear my Oura Ring only at night?

Yes. However, you may miss out on useful activity data that loop into your other scores, and your Oura experience may seem incomplete as a result. We recommend to all Oura Members they wear their rings 24/7 for optimal accuracy and personalization.

For a list of daytime features included in the Gen3 Oura ring, read our Meet Gen3 article.

Can I wear my Oura Ring while working out?

Yes, you can wear your Oura Ring throughout all your workouts and movement routines. Oura can even automatically detect and track over 40 unique activity types.

However, we don't recommend wearing your Oura Ring while lifting heavy weights, as it may get scratched.

Is the Oura Ring waterproof?

The Oura Ring is water-resistant up to 100 meters (~330 feet), meaning you can wear it while partaking in recreational diving (e.g. snorkeling), but we don’t recommend using your ring while scuba diving or keeping it submerged underwater for over 12 hours.

Does Oura account for time zone changes?

Yes, your Oura Ring will synchronize to your device’s local time once your ring and Oura App connect over Bluetooth in the new time zone.

You’ll need to ensure that:

  1. Bluetooth is enabled on your device
  2. proper connection between your ring and app is established
  3. your device’s OS is fully up to date

How can I find a lost ring?

If you’ve lost your ring and it has battery remaining, you can use the app Find My Bluetooth Device in an attempt to track it down. Otherwise, you can reach out to our team here so we can assist you with best next steps.

Found a ring?

If you've found an Oura Ring, please contact us here so that we can locate its original owner.

What is Restricted Mode?

Restricted Mode protects your information in case an unwanted party gets a hold of your Oura Ring and attempts to pair it with their device, or if you attempt to pair your ring to a new device without performing a factory reset on it first.

If the Oura App notifies you that it’s in Restricted Mode, you'll need to reset your ring to its factory settings in order to continue using it.

Does Oura have a smart alarm?

The Oura Ring does not have a smart alarm feature, nor does it use sounds, lights, vibrations, or other alert functions. However, Oura can send you notifications for a number of situations. Manage your notifications settings by navigating to the menu Icon_Bars_Menu.png in the upper left-hand corner of the app's Home Icon_Home.png  tab > tap "Settings" > "Notifications."

How accurate is Oura?

The sensors in the Oura ring have been tested against laboratory results in multiple validation studies.

  • Temperature: Oura measures changes as precisely as 0.13°C (0.234°F), accurate to within 0.36°C (0.648°F), and matches with research-grade tools at more than 99% under lab conditions, and 92% under real world conditions.
  • Respiration: When compared to a medical-grade electrocardiogram (ECG), Oura is shown to be accurate to within one breath per minute across the entire night.
  • Heart Rate: Oura is 99.6% accurate for nighttime resting heart rate (RHR) and 98% accurate for heart rate variability (HRV) when compared to a medical-grade electrocardiogram (ECG).
  • Sleep: Oura reaches 79% agreement when compared to polysomnography (PSG) laboratory sleep tests.
  • Activity: Read our article on How Oura Measures Steps & Activity.

Can Oura detect COVID-19?

Oura is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent particular diseases or conditions.

For information regarding COVID-19 onset research, check out this article about a recent UCSF study.

How should I store the ring when I'm not wearing it?

If you plan on taking a break from wearing your Oura Ring for more than two weeks, we recommend putting it into power saving mode to prevent any potential battery deterioration.

If you're not wearing your ring during the day, be sure to store it on a flat surface and away from any direct light sources to avoid generating false data.
