Menopause Impact Scale (MIS)

In the Menopause Insights Hub, you’ll see an overall impact level based on your data from the MIS.

MIS is a digitally validated tool to help you understand how menopause symptoms are affecting your daily life. It was developed and tested with menopause experts to capture physical, emotional, cognitive, and sexual/genital changes in one place and give you and your doctor a shared, science-based view over time.

The MIS asks about symptoms in these categories:

  • Cognitive
  • Sexual/Genital
  • Musculoskeletal
  • Self Perception
  • Vasomotor
  • Sleep
  • Urinary

MIS asks about common symptoms of menopause. For each symptom, choose the response that best describes how it has impacted your quality of life on a five-point scale (from "None" to "Extremely"). The assessment takes a few minutes to complete. If you don’t answer all the questions, your answers won’t be saved, but you can return and complete the assessment at any time.

Your overall impact level is based on an average across the seven categories of symptoms, and ranges shows as Minimal, Mild, Moderate, or High.

Tapping into the detailed view of MIS shows your overall impact over time. You can use the drop down menu to see results for each symptom category or download a report that includes your most relevant symptoms, their impact on your quality of life, and any trend data.

You’ll get a reminder every 30 days to retake the MIS, so you can track changes. You can also start a new check-in anytime, such as when your symptoms shift, you start a new treatment, or you want an updated view. Skipping a reminder won’t erase anything; your past results stay available.

Cycle Variability

Cycle variability refers to the differences in the length of your cycles over time. This is the same metric as you’ll see in your Cycle Insights detail view.

If you don’t see Cycle Variability, check to ensure you have Cycle Insights enabled.

Turning Menopause Insights Off

If you no longer want to use Menopause Insights or receive reminders, go to your Women’s Health settings and toggle the feature off. The card will no longer appear in your My Health tab, but your data will be saved so you can turn the feature back on and resume tracking your symptoms at any time.

If you have additional questions about your symptoms, consult a medical professional.

How to Remove Your Women's Health Data

Women's Health data may include information about your cycles, such as your latest period start date and cycle length, women's health-related tags (such as positive pregnancy test, ovulation, positive LH test, etc.), period prediction settings, birth control settings (hormonal, non-hormonal, and other hormone options), pregnancy information, and fertile window. Your data is collected, used, and protected in compliance with Oura's Privacy Policy.

You can remove your data, including women's health data, from the app over a specific time range in the Settings menu. Currently, you're unable to delete data from a single metric or feature, so this will permanently delete all your Oura data for that period. If you would like to delete your Oura account, you can choose Delete account and all data in the Settings menu or through Membership Hub. See How Oura Protects Your Data.
