More Information
Depending on the color of the ring, we use two similar types of coating methods. Our Black and Stealth rings have a Diamond-like Carbon (DLC) coating, while our Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, and Brushed Titanium rings have a physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating. All of our rings have identical technical standards and performance capabilities.
Black
Oura Ring 4 has an updated black finish and features a glossy, tungsten carbide PVD coating, which improves durability while creating a very dark black look.
Oura Ring Gen3 has a glossy black finish and is manufactured with a DLC coating.
Brushed Silver/Brushed Titanium
This matte silver finish is available on Oura Ring 4 and Oura Ring Gen3 Horizon. For Oura Ring 4, the finish is called Brushed Silver, and for Oura Ring Gen3, the finish is called Brushed Titanium. Vertical brushing creates a visually dynamic surface that reflects the light differently from every angle, a quality that accentuates the inherent properties of titanium. Brushed Silver/Brushed Titanium is manufactured with a PVD coating.
Gold
The glossy gold finish is available on Oura Ring 4 and Oura Ring Gen3 and is manufactured with a PVD coating.
Rose Gold
This glossy finish is available on Oura Ring 4 and Oura Ring Gen3 Horizon and is manufactured with PVD coating.
The Rose Gold finish is specially designed to be a living color that will develop a darker patina over time. The exact patina effect depends on the use and care of your ring.
Silver
The glossy silver finish is available on Heritage and Horizon models, and is manufactured with a physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating.
Stealth
This color is available on Heritage and Horizon models. Stealth is a matte black finish manufactured with an additional layer of precision and detail, and a Diamond-Like-Carbon (DLC) coating. Note that, over time, the color may get darker with continuous use.

Tips for Scratch Prevention
The Oura Ring may get scratched and can itself scratch softer metal jewelry or other objects in close contact with the ring, such as phone covers made of gold, silver, or aluminum. Some ceramic phone covers with a soft coating may also get scratched.
Scratches or other damage caused by wear and tear are not covered by Oura's warranty policy. To help prevent scratches and increase the longevity of your ring:
- Wear your Oura Ring on your non-dominant hand to reduce the amount of contact with various surfaces and objects you interact with on a daily basis
- Avoid wearing other rings adjacent to your Oura Ring. Other rings may scratch your Oura Ring while rubbing against it
- Consider removing your Oura Ring in situations that involve friction (e.g. weightlifting), or when handling objects made of metal, ceramics, or stone (such as handling pots or pans)
