You can track your glucose levels directly in the Oura App through the Oura and Dexcom partnership and integration. This integration allows you to view glucose data from the Stelo Glucose Biosensor and Stelo by Dexcom app alongside Oura insights, helping you better understand how daily habits impact metabolic health.

Pairing Stelo with your Oura Membership reveals how your meals affect your glucose levels, empowering you to make informed choices for your well-being. To use Glucose, you'll need both an Oura Membership and a Stelo account. The feature is available only in the US due to regulatory clearance for:

We currently integrate only with the Stelo biosensor. Other sensors or continuous glucose monitors, including other Dexcom devices, aren’t supported.

What Is the Stelo Glucose Biosensor?

The Stelo Glucose Biosensor is a wearable biosensor that tracks glucose levels in near real time using a thin, flexible filament beneath the skin. It sends data to the Stelo by Dexcom app (available on iOS and Android in the US only), helping you understand how meals, activity, sleep, and stress impact your metabolic health.

The initial applicator used to apply the biosensor has a small needle to insert the filament. The biosensor application is virtually painless and, when wearing the biosensor, most users forget it’s even there. The biosensor is also waterproof and can be submerged under eight feet of water for up to 24 hours without failure when properly installed. The biosensor is approved to be used in the upper arm only.

If you already have a Stelo Glucose Biosensor, you can connect it to the Oura App to enable glucose tracking.

How to Purchase a Stelo Glucose Biosensor

Stelo Glucose Biosensors are available as a two-pack from the Oura online store or the Stelo website. Current members can purchase them separately, while new members can bundle them with an Oura Ring. If ordering a sizing kit, the biosensors will ship with your Oura Ring after size confirmation. Biosensors are only available in the US, and all sales are final, with no returns or exchanges due to their classification as medical devices. For HSA or FSA eligibility, check with your provider.


How to Set up Glucose

By combining data from your biosensor and your Oura Ring, you can import glucose data from Stelo into the Oura App and see how your lifestyle influences your metabolism. To use the Glucose feature, your country of residence must be set to the United States. To check or update this, go to the Icon Bars Menu.png menu in your Oura App > Settings.

Set Up the Stelo Glucose Biosensor

  • Download the Stelo by Dexcom app (iOS or Android)
  • Create a Stelo account and follow the instructions in the app
  • Insert the biosensor in the back of the upper arm in an area with enough fat to avoid muscle and that isn't likely to be bumped, pushed, or slept on

Each biosensor lasts up to 15 days, is designed to be worn continuously, and is not rechargeable or reusable. You can wear them back-to-back or take breaks in between biosensors depending on your goals. Using the Protective Patches

Your Stelo biosensor purchase from Oura comes with protective sensor patches. You can choose to wear the patches to protect your sensor from becoming dislodged. If you want to replace the patch halfway the sensor’s usage period, make sure to peel the patch off while pressing the sensor in place to avoid it lifting off from your skin and becoming detached. It's not possible to re-insert the sensor if it detaches from your skin. If you’re unsure about replacing the patch without impacting the sensor, we recommend keeping the same patch on for the entire sensor wear period.

Connect the Stelo Glucose Biosensor to the Oura App

Note: you don’t need to use the same email address for both apps. Make sure to use your Oura account email when logging into the Oura App, and your Stelo email when signing into the Stelo by Dexcom app.

  1. Tap the Icon Bars Menu.png menu in the upper-left corner of the Oura App's Today tab
  2. Tap Glucose or Integrations > Dexcom Stelo, and then Connect Stelo sensor
  3. Sign in using the email address or phone number linked to your Stelo by Dexcom app

Once you've enabled the integration and started gathering data, you can find your glucose information in the Oura App:

  1. In the Icon Bars Menu.png menu in the upper-left corner of the Today tab under Glucose
  2. In a home card or the Glucose shortcut at the top of the Today tab
  3. In the Vitals tab

Understanding Your Glucose Data in the Oura App

Glucose Graph

The glucose graph shows you how your glucose level fluctuates throughout the day. Logging meals and adding tags can help you better understand these fluctuations and what causes them.

It’s normal for the glucose level to fluctuate according to the time of day and meals. However, sharp spikes followed by rapid drops—often triggered by highly processed foods—can contribute to energy crashes. Ideally, your glucose patterns should resemble gentle rolling hills rather than steep, jagged cliffs.

You may see glucose spikes in the morning due to the dawn phenomenon, a natural rise in blood glucose levels that occurs in the early morning hours, typically between 2 AM and 8 AM. This happens as your body prepares to wake up by releasing hormones like cortisol and growth hormone, which can temporarily make your cells less sensitive to insulin. As a result, your liver releases stored glucose into the bloodstream for energy. This is a normal physiological response, but in some people it may lead to higher-than-expected morning glucose levels.

Beyond food, factors like high-intensity exercise, hot baths or saunas, sweating, dehydration, and acute stress can also temporarily raise glucose levels as part of your body's natural response.

Time Above Range

When an active glucose biosensor is connected to the Oura App, your meal-logging experience gains an extra layer of insight: Time Above Range.

Meal-level Time Above Range shows how long a meal caused glucose levels to stay above the target range. The assessment window for each meal is two hours from the time it was logged. Note the Time Above Range thresholds are currently designed for non-diabetics.

You can change your target range at any time by tapping on the Icon Info.png icon in the upper-right of the Glucose screen. Changing your range will affect your relative time spent above range.

Since individual spikes are normal and vary due to factors like stress, sleep, and movement, Time Above Range provides a more meaningful long-term view of glucose stability.

  • Optimal (0–60 min): Your daily glucose levels have stayed stable without high peaks or drastic drops
  • Good (60–90 min): Your daily glucose levels have stayed within the normal range
  • Fair (90 min–3 hrs): Your daily glucose levels stayed above the normal range for some time
  • Elevated (3 hrs or longer): Your daily glucose levels have been above the normal range for a bit longer than ideal

You’ll also see personalized guidance and tips based on meal composition and glucose responses. Glucose data does not impact Oura scores.

Troubleshooting

Data Accuracy

How accurate is my glucose data?

Stelo data is 93% accurate compared to a gold standard laboratory blood glucose test. Because different glucose monitoring solutions have varying margins of error, direct comparisons of Stelo to blood glucose meters or other systems may not be meaningful. Note that readings may be slightly inaccurate at the beginning or end of the biosensor's life. Learn more at Stelo Support.

Why doesn't my Stelo match my blood glucose meter?

Your Stelo glucose readings will not always be the same number as a blood glucose meter (BGM) reading. The Stelo Glucose Biosensor measures glucose in the interstitial fluid just under your skin, while a BGM is measuring glucose in a drop of blood—it’s normal for these values to differ. For reporting a product issue, or other support needs, please log into your Stelo account and submit your request through SteloBot.

Data Visibility & Syncing

Why don't I see my glucose data in the Oura App?

Oura App

When using a new biosensor, there is a 30-minute warm-up period before data becomes available. You will also need to have the Stelo by Dexcom app running in the background for data to appear in Oura — it may take up to 15 minutes to sync.

Stelo App

If you're not seeing Stelo sensor data in your Stelo app, you may be experiencing signal loss — this happens when your smartphone temporarily stops receiving readings from your biosensor. You’ll see a message on your Glucose tab if readings aren't received for more than 15.5 minutes. You won’t get readings until the issue is resolved. For help with signal loss, visit Stelo Support. If you are experiencing connection issues between your Stelo biosensor and Stelo app, log into your Stelo account and submit your request through SteloBot.

Why does my Oura App show different readings than my Stelo by Dexcom app?

The Stelo by Dexcom app displays "smoothed" glucose data, while Oura pulls real-time values directly from the Stelo system. Because of this, you may notice slight differences between the two readings.

Why is there a delay in my Oura glucose data?

Stelo records glucose data every 15 minutes. Oura also pulls data from Stelo at 15-minute intervals, but on a slightly different schedule due to regulatory requirements. This can create a slight delay before the latest reading is available in the Oura App. If your glucose data was appearing earlier but isn’t updating now, try closing and relaunching the Oura App to refresh the sync.

Why are there gaps in my data?

Check that the biosensor is listed as a connected device in your phone’s Bluetooth settings. If you notice data gaps at night, it may be due to sleeping on the sensor, which can disrupt readings. The Stelo by Dexcom app also needs to be running in the background for your data to transfer. If your biosensor is over 20 feet from your phone or if Bluetooth is off, you may see a gap in your trend graph. The data will sync once you are back in range. Stelo can store up to 24 hours of data when not connected, and the Oura App can retrieve up to seven days of past data once a sync is reestablished.

Managing Sensor Issues or Replacements

What do I do if I have issues with my biosensor or if it falls off?
For reporting a product issue, or other support needs, please log into your Stelo account at stelo.com and submit your request through SteloBot. The process should only take a few minutes.

  1. Navigate to Stelo.com
  2. Login to your Stelo account with your Stelo app credentials
  3. Open the Stelobot located in the bottom right hand corner of the screen
  4. Follow the instructions and report the issue you are experiencing

What do I do if I see an error message in my biosensor?

If you are experiencing any of the following product issues: Session Ended Early, Sensor Failed, or Brief Sensor Issue, navigate to Stelo.com, log into your Stelo account, and submit your request through SteloBot.

If I already have a biosensor, how do I set up a new one?

If you already have a paired biosensor, disconnect it in your phone’s Bluetooth settings before setting up your new biosensor. Go to the Stelo by Dexcom app and select Start New Sensor, and then either scan the QR code or manually input the pairing code from the applicator of your new sensor.

The Oura App can't sync historical data from a biosensor worn before you enabled the Stelo integration.


Things to Keep in Mind

  • It takes two hours after you log a meal to calculate your glucose response
  • Stelo is suited for adults (18+ years) not on insulin who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes or prediabetes and are not at risk for hypoglycemia, or those interested in tracking their glucose. You can use Stelo during pregnancy if you're not on insulin and you’re not at risk of hypoglycemia
  • It's not uncommon to feel slightly uncomfortable when inserting the biosensor. Any sensations should subside with time, as you get used to the biosensor. However, especially if you are lean, there is a chance you might have installed the biosensor on a spot that is more muscle than fat. If the pain persists, contact Stelo for a potential replacement biosensor
  • In order to access the Stelo and Oura integration, your App Store location must be set to the US, and your device’s operating system must be iOS 16.2 or Android 12 OS or above
