We’re adding a Bluetooth security update to Oura Ring Gen3 to improve your ring’s security. Oura Ring 4 was designed and shipped with the Bluetooth security update already in place. Member privacy and security are of utmost importance at Oura, and we are committed to protecting your data.
How to Enable the Bluetooth Security Update
You can find the Bluetooth security update on the My Oura Ring page under Tools.
- Tap on the menu in the upper-left corner or the battery icon in the upper-right corner of the home screen
- Tap on the My Oura Ring page
- Tap on Bluetooth Security Update (see iOS screenshot below)
Starting December 18, we'll be rolling out a notification in the Today tab of your Oura App to remind you the Bluetooth security update is available. Enabling the feature requires resetting your Bluetooth connection, but no data will be lost. You can enable it at any time.
To enable now
- Tap on the Enable button in the home card if available, or navigate to the My Oura Ring page > Bluetooth Security Update
- Place your ring on the charger and make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. Tap Continue
- Confirm that you’d like to enable the update by tapping Enable and wait a few seconds

iOS only: Remove your Oura Ring from your phone’s Bluetooth settings:
- Go to your phone Settings > Bluetooth
- Find your Oura Ring in the list of connected devices
- Tap Forget this device
- Return to the Oura App and tap Continue
- Leave your Oura Ring on the charger and follow the in-app instructions to reconnect your ring
To enable later
- Go to the My Oura Ring page by tapping on the menu in the upper-left corner or the battery icon in the upper-right corner of the home screen
- Tap Enable Bluetooth Security Update and follow the instructions
How to Check if the Bluetooth Security Update is Enabled
You can check the status of the Bluetooth security update in your device’s Bluetooth settings. If the update is enabled, your ring will appear as Oura Ring Gen3 in your phone's connected devices.
