Set Up a Replacement Oura Ring
If you've recently replaced or upgraded your existing Oura Ring with a new one, follow along below to get set up with your new ring.
Before Getting Started
1. Ensure you’re in a location with stable internet connection.
2. Ensure your old ring has been charged to at least 50%. To view your battery percentage, tap the spinning ring in the upper right-hand corner of the Home
tab.
3. Back up all existing Oura data on your old ring. Go to the hamburger menu in the upper left-hand corner of your Home
tab > Select Settings
> Back up all data.
Factory Reset Your Old Ring & Connect Your New Ring
Steps for iOS and Android:
Note: if your old ring is lost or no longer functional, you can skip the factory reset (step 5) and proceed with "Set up a new ring" instead (step 6).
1. Place your old ring on the charger and ensure it’s charging.
2. Open the Oura App and tap the spinning ring in the upper right-hand corner of the Home
tab.
3. Swipe left.
4. Scroll down to 'Tools' and tap 'Set up new ring.'
5. Please select the option to ‘Factory reset current ring’. Leave your old ring on its charger until the factory reset is complete. After the ring factory reset, go into your phone's Settings, and select Bluetooth. Remove the ring from the listed of connected devices.
Note: if your old ring is lost or no longer functional, you can skip the factory reset and proceed with "Set up a new ring" instead.
6. Once your factory reset is complete, take your old ring off the charger and place your new ring on the charger. If you skipped the factory reset, proceed with placing your new ring on the charger. Select ‘Setup new ring’ to pair your new ring and app.
If your new and old ring are both connected to your device and you don't see your newest ring generation appear, please tap 'This is not my ring'. From there, you can select between connected options. *See second image as a reference.
Once you’ve completed a factory reset of your old ring, you’re free to pass it along to a friend or family member if it’s still in quality condition. To transfer your previous Oura Ring to a new user, follow instructions outlined in this article. However, if you choose not to give away your previous Oura Ring, we ask that you please repurpose it for sustainability sake.
Having Trouble?
If you are experiencing trouble setting up your new ring, please ensure the ring is able to complete its charge. If you've finished charging your ring, but the battery level remains at 60-70%, it's possible the ring is in Power Saving Mode.
To disable Power Saving Mode, please follow the steps below.
1. Place your ring on the charger and ensure it's charging.
2. Open the Oura App and go to the menu icon in the upper left-hand corner of the Home
tab.
3. Tap Settings .
4. Scroll down to Account and tap Back up all data.
5. Tap in the upper left-hand corner to return to the Home
tab.
6. Tap the ring in the upper right-hand corner of the Home
tab.
7. Swipe left.
8. Scroll down and tap Factory reset.
Once you've completed the factory reset, please follow the steps below.
1. Place your ring on the charger and ensure it's charging.
2. Remove the ring from your device's Bluetooth devices.
3. Proceed to reconnect your ring by following the app instructions.
