Software and Firmware Updates
Below, you’ll find details on how to update both your Oura app and your Oura Ring firmware. Keep in mind that new ring firmware updates will only be available at the same time that a new version of the Oura app is launched. Ideally, you should update each of these together.
Software Update Specifics
We are consistently looking to improve the quality of your Oura app experience, which calls for regular software updates. There are three different ways you can update to the latest version of the Oura app. They are listed below.
1. When a new version of the Oura app is available for download, you’ll receive a notification at the top of your Home tab. Please select Update now to begin this process. You’ll be redirected to the iOS App Store or Google Play Store, depending on your device. From here, you can seamlessly select Update on the screen that follows to begin the process.
2. For iOS users, you can visit the App Store to update to the latest version of the Oura app. To do so, search for Oura in the search tab of the App Store (displayed in the image below). If there’s an update available, it will be visible to you. You can proceed by selecting Update if this is the case.
You can also complete an Oura app update by selecting your account profile in the upper right-hand corner of your App Store screen (visible on all tabs within the App Store). In this section, you’ll be able to view which applications are listed below Available Updates. If there is a new version of the Oura app available, you can proceed by selecting Update to update your software.
3. For Android users, open the Google Play Store to update to the latest version of the Oura app. Tap Menu, then My Apps & Games. Find the Oura app within this section. If the Oura app has an update available, it will be labeled as such. Tap Update to begin the process.
Firmware Update Specifics
The Oura Ring has its own firmware which can be updated via Bluetooth once a new version is released, and available in the Oura app. You'll receive a message at the top of your Home tab informing you of an available firmware update upon its official release. Simply tap 'Update now' in the message card to complete your firmware update.
Keep in mind: for the firmware update notification to appear, your phone’s Bluetooth must be enabled, and your ring’s battery level must be above 50%. Ensure that your ring is charged and that you’re not in Airplane Mode if you’re not receiving the firmware notification. Please also note that firmware updates may consume more of your ring's battery than usual. You may need to charge your ring shortly after a firmware update for this reason.
